The Assessment Panel

The British Aggregates Association Assessment of Operating Standards Scheme is managed by the Assessment Panel. Members of the panel are:

Steve Cole is the Chairman of the Panel. Steve has spent  more than 45 years in the quarrying and recycling industry . Now retired from the Raymond Brown Group he runs his own consultancy business Emerald Development & Consulting.

Chris Wainwright has been a member of the Panel for for the past ten years. Chris holds a MSc in Engineering from the University of Birmingham as well as obtaining his NEBOSH qualification with distinction. Chris is the Operations Director of Longcliffe Quarries Limited and brings a wealth of talent and experience to the Panel with over 30 years operational management experience covering quarries, asphalt, precast concrete & logistics.

Andrew Harker works for Cloburn Quarry Company. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Quarrying a Chartered Engineer and Chartered Environmentalist with 43 years experience in opencast coal , hard rock and sand and gravel in both  operations and planning. In addition to many quarry management appointments he has been an Area Operations Manager and a Regional Engineer. 

Alan Webb  joined the panel in 2022. He is the Health & Safety Manager at Smiths & Sons (Bletchington) Limited. With long service in the industry, Alan brings his extensive experience to the panel.

Roy Bush FIQ was retained to handle the Scheme for BAA in June 2018 and is now BAA Director of Health & Safety . Roy has been in the quarrying industry for over 40 years both in quarry management; and latterly as an HSE Quarries Inspector for  25 years.
