Help us Protect Your Customer Base
The
British Aggregates Association was formed in October 1999 to provide an
effective voice for independent quarry companies. The UK quarry industry
is currently going through an extremely difficult phase beset by a host
of problems such as the Working Time Directive, planning gridlock, planning
charges, environmental charges, the aggregates levy and unfair competition.
The association deals with all regulatory issues which affect our industry.
We are in constant dialogue with most government agencies including DTI,
ODPM, DEFRA, HM Customs & Excise and HM Treasury and we have become
a fundamental part of the consultation process on all planning, environmental,
competition and health and safety issues.
Although we are making some headway against damaging legislation, much
remains to be done. However, if we fail to safeguard our industry a large
proportion of UK quarry products will undoubtedly be replaced by imports.
Membership
of the British Aggregates Association has now been opened up to allow
quarry supply companies to support us by becoming associate members. In
return details of the services they offer are circulated to operating
companies and BAA
associate members are provided with an extensive contact list. Associate
members are also able to use the BAA
logo on their stationery and vehicles. By helping us to support the UK
quarry industry by fighting adverse legislation, you will therefore be
investing wisely in the future of your own company.
